iOS 13 dark mode leaks and more WWDC 2019 predictions

first_img Comments Now playing: Watch this: 13 Photos The new iPod Touch looks just like the old one and it’s kind of nice 2:12 The difference with these iPod Touch models is found under the hood. They’ve got Apple’s newer A10 Fusion chip, which means they’re now powerful enough to support ARkit and Group Facetime. And there’s a 258GB option, which is a first for an iPod. And while the lack of new features may seem like somewhat of a letdown, at least the price remained the same. The cheapest 32GB model costs $199 and goes up to $399 for the 256GB version. Follow all the latest from WWDC 2019 on CNETWWDC will take place at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California, June 3-7. The keynote starts at 10 am PT Monday. You can stream  it live on Apple’s website or on CNET.com. CNET will be on the ground for all of it, so you can stay up-to-date on all the announcements via our liveblog or live show.  Aug 31 • Your phone screen is gross. This week 9to5mac got hold of some screenshots of what the rumored dark mode would look like on the iPhone. According to the publication, you’ll have two options to activate dark mode: toggling a switch from Settings, or pressing a new button in your control center for easy access. Apple’s MacOS Mojave brought dark mode to Macs last year, and just a few weeks ago at its developers conference, Google also announced a new dark mode for Android Q.Apple’s systemwide dark mode could arrive in iOS 13.  9to5Mac It’s not just the interface that’s getting changes. According to a recent Bloomberg report, a lot of Apple’s native apps are getting an overhaul too. The Messages app is rumored to be getting a WhatsApp style makeover with profile pictures and status updates, a new Swype-style keyboard similar to Google’s Gboard, along with an undo feature that would allow you to go back in time and revert changes when typing. And it wouldn’t be an iOS update without some new Animoji and Memoji features, which Apple is also rumored to be beefing up in iOS 13.  The Maps, Mail and Reminders apps are all said to get some minor refreshes as well. And the Find My iPhone and Find Friends apps could be merging into one, according to the 9to5mac report. Apple pushes health features in iOS and WatchOSApple’s Health app is another one that could see a major overhaul. The app is rumored to be getting a new homepage that would float your most relevant health data to the top, giving you a more comprehensive look at your daily stats and progress over time. It may also bring new tracking features like hearing health, which factors in how loud you’re playing your music and the ambient noise volume you’re exposed to, and a eriod tracking feature, which keeps tabs on a woman’s menstrual cycle. Period tracking is also said to be coming to the Apple Watch as a standalone app called Cycle. Fitbit and Garmin already have this feature natively on some of their wearable devices. iOS 13 could introduce a better bedtime mode as part of this health push, which would combine the new dark mode, the existing do-not-disturb feature and the clock app to optimize sleep time and maybe usher in a new sleep tracking era for the next-generation Apple Watch in September. These software updates can usually clue us in on what Apple has planned in terms of hardware, according to CNET Senior Reporter Shara Tibken. And it’s not just physical health Apple’s investing in. Expect Apple to continue to make a push for digital wellbeing with iOS 13 and include a few more controls that would allow parents to limit screen time for their kids. This after the company recently removed or imposed restrictions on 11 third-party screen-time and parental control apps in the App Store. The only hint of a rumor out there talks about picture-in-picture viewing for videos, but that’s it.You can expect MacOS and iOS to have a bit more synergy at WWDC. Will MacOS 10.15 bring universal apps?If the rumors are true, WWDC 2019 could bring us one step closer to full integration between iOS and MacOS. We’ve already seen more native iOS apps pop up on Apple’s computers, and we expect this trend to continue.Guilherme Rambo and Stephen Troughton Smith, two well-known Apple leakers, have both said we can expect MacOS 10.15 to bring dedicated apps for music, podcasts, TV shows and books to the Mac. Basically, that breaks up the tabs from iTunes without fully getting rid of iTunes as the mothership. But perhaps the most important change is one that most of us average users won’t see immediately. Apple is rumored to be opening up its cross-party framework to third-party developers so they can’t start working toward migrating their iPhone apps to Macs, a move that would require them to work with either a touchscreen or mouse.Apple Watch could finally get its own app storePerhaps the most important WatchOS 6 feature could be a standalone app store for the Watch, if the rumors are true. Apple Watch users currently have to download an app to their iPhones first before it can appear on the Watch. This move would help make the Watch even more independent from the iPhone and could eventually live on its own. Preview • iPhone XS is the new $1,000 iPhone X We already went over a few of the health updates we can expect on the Apple Watch with the update to WatchOS 6, but there could be more. We could see a new app called Dose that would remind users to take their medications. We’re also looking forward to new watchfaces with this update, and new complications to choose from as with previous iterations. New iPod Touch and other products Apple may have in the worksHardware is not a given at Apple’s developer conference, but if we were to get something it would most likely be a new Mac Pro. Apple had promised an update to this machine in 2019, and this would be a good time to show it off. The next event is the iPhone event in September, which seems less likely, and then maybe an October event. Or it could come as a surprise release with no launch event, like what Apple recently did with its new MacBook Pros and iPod Touch. After a four-year hiatus, this week Apple finally refreshed its iPod Touch line. The seventh-generation device looks very similar to the last one with a four-inch screen, those old-school wider bezels and that physical home button with no Touch ID Aug 31 • iPhone XR vs. iPhone 8 Plus: Which iPhone should you buy? Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2 siblings AnuragNiveditas kissing scene Pooja Banerjee has this

first_imgParth Samthaan and Pooja BanerjeeinstagramKasautii Zindagii Kay 2 actors Parth Samthaan and Pooja Banerjee, who play on-screen siblings Anurag and Nivedita on the show, left fans shocked when a video of the duo sharing a liplock went viral online. The kissing scene was from Ekta Kapoor’s web series Kehne Ko Humsafar Hain 2 that stars Ronit Roy, Mona Singh and Gurdeep Kohli. Some of the netizens were flabbergasted as they found the on-screen brother-sister duo kissing in another show extremely odd. As soon as the video was uploaded online, netizens were left angered, some also condemned the makers and the actors too for including a kissing scene between the actors who play siblings in Ekta’s another family drama. And now, justifying her actions, Pooja told SpotboyE.com that she and Parth are professionals and not real life siblings.”It really feels great to receive so much love and appreciation from my fans. I am sure they will be shocked since nobody saw it coming and this is the first time they will see me kissing on screen. Parth and I play siblings on Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2 and we also share a good rapport as both colleagues.. But at the end of the day we both are actors who always get into the skin of their respective characters to give their best shot. I have been getting reviews that Kehne Ko Humsafar Hai has shown my versatility and I always will give my 100 per cent as an actress. It really feels good,” she told the web portal. She also said that people are bound to compare the two shows considering both Parth and her are part of them. “Comparisons will always be the talk as people have now seen Parth and I portraying different characters— but I take it in a positive stride because it makes me believe that the fans have actually started taking us seriously. This can be one of the biggest achievements for an actor— but our fans should also know that we are not real life siblings and neither dating each other. We are just professional actors who are doing our job seriously,” she added. The actress, who shot the intimate scene for the first time, admitted that she was a little hesitant while shooting the scene. “Of course I was a little hesitant and you can say, in fact in a dilemma— but somehow I knew I would do justice to this scene,” she told the portal. SC appoints retired judge to probe conspiracy against CJI Ranjan Gogoi

first_imgChief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi is being framed in a case of sexual harassment.ANIThe Supreme Court on Thursday, April 25, ordered a probe headed by former judge Justice AK Patnaik into an alleged conspiracy in the sexual harassment allegations against Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi.Earlier today, the apex court expressed anguish over the systematic attack on the judiciary, saying that the rich and powerful of this country should stop “playing with fire”.The top court was hearing claims made by an advocate Utsav Bains, who said in an affidavit that the Chief Justice was being framed in a false case of sexual harassment that would force him to resign. The court will pass the order at 2 pm.In the affidavit, Utsav had mentioned that he was offered Rs 1.5 crore to represent the former top court woman employee who levelled the allegation against the CJI.A special bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra said that it was anguished with the way the judiciary has been treated for the past 3-4 years. “The way this institution is treated in last few years we must say that we will not survive if this will happen,” said a bench also comprising Justices R F Nariman and Deepak Gupta. “There is a systematic attack, systematic game to malign this institution”, the bench told a news agency. On Wednesday, the court said that it would look into the allegations that former sacked employees of the apex court have ganged up to target the CJI. Lawyer Utsav Singh Bains has also alleged that there has been fixing of judgments, as well as of benches. The bench of Justice Arun Mishra, Justice Rohinton Fali Nariman and Justice Deepak Gupta had asked Bains to file an affidavit containing further information to back his allegations by Thursday. Chief Justice of India Ranjan GogoiIANSIn its order, the court made it clear that its hearing was limited to the allegations of conspiracy to frame CJI Gogoi and to fix judgments and benches, and would in no way have any bearing on the inquiry being carried out by the three-member committee of judges on the administrative side. The court will also examine whether Bains could claim privilege over certain material and documents supporting his allegations.Noting that the bench would be deciding on the question of whether any privilege could be claimed over the documents related to the allegations, Justice Mishra said that in his opinion, no such confidentiality could be claimed – a view supported by the Attorney General KK Venugopal, the Solicitor General Tushar Mehta and the Supreme Court Bar Association President Rakesh Khanna. The Directors of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), as well as the Delhi Police Commissioner, met the three concerned judges in their chambers on Wednesday. The court has asked the CBI Director and the IB Chief to co-operate with Justice AK Patnaik.last_img read more

Is it the end of road for once unchallenged Congress leader Roshan

first_imgShivajinagar MLA R Roshan BaigtwitterIt seems like the tides are against the senior Congress legislator and former minister R Roshan Baig, who was once the undisputed leader from Bengaluru’s Muslim dominated Shivajinagar area.Baig, who was suspended by the Congress party on Tuesday, June 18 for anti-party activities, stands on shaky ground. The disgruntled MLA had turned against the party leadership for its poor performance in the state and for not granting him a cabinet position.Shortly after the exit polls for the 2019 elections hinted at a huge defeat for Congress in the state, Baig had dropped hints of quitting Congress allegedly to join BJP. He also asked the people from Muslim communities to support the BJP, if the situation arises. But with his name tagged into the multi-crore IMA ponzi scam that has defrauded over 36,000 investors, the BJP has declared Baig persona non grata for his affiliation with the fraudulent firm, meaning that he is no more welcome at the saffron party. With the Congress against him and the BJP shutting him for his involvement in the scam, the seven-time MLA is on a tight spot. While talking to the media on Wednesday, he slammed the party leaders like Siddaramaiah for his suspension while sticking firm on his ground. He accused the party of adopting double standards over action against rebel leaders.Baig said that he has not involved in any anti-party activities claiming that he is a worker of Indian National Congress (INC) and not Siddaramaiah’s Congress. He further claimed that all his take on the party leadership is based on truth. However, Baig said that he will consult with his colleagues and senior leaders Ramalinga Reddy, HK Patil, Mallikarjun Kharge and KH Muniyappa on his next move. IMA director Mohammed Mansoor Khan with Shivajinagar MLA R Roshan Baig and Karnataka CM HD KumaraswamyfacebookEven though, the Shivajinagar legislator refuted of having any links with IMA or its members, the state revenue minister RV Deshpande had disclosed that IMA director Mansoor Khan had met him in May through Baig for a NOC on Rs 600 crore loan from a bank. In an alleged audio clip, Khan had accused Baig of taking Rs 400 crores from him and not returning it as he did not get a party ticket, which Baig has completely denied.last_img read more

Fasten your wallets aviation fuel price zooms 6

first_imgREUTERS/Amit DaveThere are more headaches in store for civil aviation companies struggling for market share in a stagnant market while keeping a handle on rising operational costs. And, for air passengers as well. State oil marketing companies on Sunday increased aviation turbine fuel prices by 6 percent, the third consecutive monthly price hike, according to a report in financial daily Business Standard (BS) on Sunday.A kilolitre of jet fuel will now cost Rs 53,045 in Delhi in October, up 6 percent from the September price. On a year-to-date basis, jet fuel price is just around 1 percent higher, while it is 13 percent higher on a year-on-year basis, the BS report said.No airline has so far notified an increase in fares, the paper said, adding that the revision could exacerbate the cost pressures which aviation companies are trying to cope with in a difficult business and market environment.Aviation fuel accounts for about 25-30 percent of operating costs for Indian air carriers.A senior executive told the daily that costs have gone up significantly so this would soon see an impact on pricing as well. The BS report quoted Santosh Hiredesai of SBICAP Securities as writing in an investor note: “The increase in crude oil prices and rupee depreciation has raised concerns regarding airlines’ profits and a 1 percent change in rupee and crude would have an impact of around 4-5 percent and 3-4 percent on earnings (other things remaining same).””If crude prices ($58/barrel) and rupee (Rs 66/$) sustain at these levels, airlines would need to hike passenger fares by 5-6 percent over last year to maintain unit profitability,” Hiredesai was quoted as writing.Brent crude price touched a two-year high of $58.6 per barrel earlier in the week.Besides, airlines that have witnessed capacity moderation due to Airbus A320neo engine issues are better placed to pass on cost increases to customers while moving into a seasonally strong festive season, Hiredesai wrote in his investor note. The upward revision could come on the back of aviation fuel prices being slashed by 5.17 percent with effect from April 1 this year.last_img read more
