The Barbershop Renaissance and Men’s Grooming Revolution, According to Fellow Barber’s Sam Buffa The Best New Men’s Grooming Brands You Need to Know About The Best Anti-Aging Creams and Skincare Products for Men Editors’ Recommendations Out of the hundreds of men’s grooming products that make it to our testing station (Read: our bathroom) Bulldog has consistently impressed. Their all-natural products get right to the point, use quality ingredients, smell great and most importantly—work. But what also stands out are their prices, which starting at just $10, seem too good to be true, especially for the return on investment. Their eight person team has conquered the hearts of men in the UK, where the brand was founded, and has slowly been trickling into the US market, winning coveted grooming awards from Men’s Health and Esquire, and are taking over shelves in places like Whole Foods. They’ve got three new products coming out this spring, which has given us the opportunity to catch up with founder Simon Duffy, to find out more about what makes Bulldog one of the best men’s grooming lines around today. Why did you start Bulldog? What was the driving philosophy behind starting the brand? The idea for Bulldog came when I was living in New York and was testing out my girlfriend’s (now wife) skincare products. All the products she used were natural and when I went to buy my own, I realized that there were just no natural products available for men. A few days later I met my good friend Rhodri Ferrier and told him about my idea to create a range of natural skincare products for men.We realized that the mainstream products were incredibly underwhelming and were not actually focused on men. Everything was a “For Men” version of famous female skincare brands such as Nivea or L’Oreal. There are many differences between male and female skin, including that men’s skin tends to be thicker, more oily and more hairy. Therefore the formulations used in female products will not produce the best results for male skin.We decided to do things differently and set out to create skincare products that are purpose-built for men, using natural ingredients that really work. It’s an approach that’s working really well at the moment and our brand is performing brilliantly around the world.Bulldog began in the UK in 2006 but launched nationwide in the USA in 2011. What were some of your thoughts, fears, excitement regarding coming to the states?Bringing Bulldog to America was a very exciting experience for us. We made this move early on with our company so it felt like more of a risk. It also felt particularly satisfying for both Rhodri and myself as we had both lived in New York for several years before we moved home to London to start Bulldog. We’re immensely proud of the fact that in just three years since our launch in America, our line has now expanded to 12 products, three of which we’re launching this month (Original Body Lotion, Sensitive Face Wash and Original Eye Roll-On). These products have won numerous prestigious grooming awards in the USA including two from Men’s Health Magazine and one from Esquire Magazine. Why should men care that their products are all naturally derived? What are the harms of chemicals? We’re very passionate about the ingredients we use in our products and want men to care as much about what they put on their skin as the food they eat.Our products are body friendly, meaning they don’t contain controversial man-made chemicals such as parabens, sodium laureth sulphate, artificial colors or synthetic fragrances. Instead we use the world’s best natural ingredients and essential oils. We believe the quality of our products is higher than conventional synthetic alternatives. Our task is to find the very best natural ingredients we can to ensure superb performance in each product. A good example is our best selling Original Moisturizer ($13.99).We use eight essential oils to give the product an amazing natural smell. In this product you will also find the following brilliant natural ingredients; Konjac Mannan, an Asian plant which is a great natural moisturizer…Green Algae extract, which works to help normalize the skin’s moisture content and to retain its suppleness and firmness and Green Tea leaf extract, which is loaded with antioxidants to help protect skin cells from the daily damage caused by free radicals. Why are natural products better for men with sensitive skin?Naturally formulated products don’t usually contain controversial man-made chemicals or known skin irritants such as sodium laureth sulfate (which is a synthetic chemical that is typically used to make foam in shower gels and face washes). Sodium laureth sulfate can also trigger the symptoms of sensitive skin. In contrast, we’ve replaced that chemical with natural ingredients derived from coconuts in all of our products because we think they do a better job.Bulldog’s Sensitive Face Wash, Sensitive Shave Cream and Sensitive Moisturiser have also been formulated with Patchouli and Cedarwood essential oils, two of the most suitable oils for sensitive skin. These two oils are celebrated by aromatherapists worldwide for their therapeutic skincare benefits. Our Cedarwood oils comes from the Atlas forests of Morocco and Patchouli is a fragrant shrubby East Indian plant from the mint family. The Sensitive Skin Moisturizer is one of our favorite products. We’ve had girls compliment our cologne when we were only wearing the moisturizer. But, How do I know if I have sensitive skin?Men’s skin can be sensitive in different ways, ranging from a mild transient tingling sensation, to minor redness, to dryness experienced as tightness, roughness or flaking. We have found that as more men adopt a skincare regime, they have become more conscious of the way their skin reacts to different products. There is a strong demand for more sensitive options.Among the three new products that just launched is an eye roll on. What is this? Why should men use eye cream? Doesn’t face cream take care of that already? Our Original Eye Roll-On has been formulated to reduce the appearance of puffiness, dark circles and fine lines around the delicate eye area. It is packed with avocado, borage, cucumber oils and Brazilian ginseng extract as well as botanical silicon from millet seed and oak apple tannins. Our Original Eye Roll-On is designed with a cooling roller ball dispenser which makes it easy to target the delicate under eye area and helps stimulate microcirculation activity through the soothing action of the roller ball on your skin. There’s also an all natural face wash—what’s the difference between a scrub and a wash? When should I use each one?Our Original Face Wash is packed with green tea and Bulldog’s unique blend of eight essential oils. We’ve designed it to be a gentle but effective every day facial cleanser that is non-drying. It will leave your face feeling refreshed and free from dirt and debris. I would definitely recommend using a natural face wash instead of soap because ingredients in soap called surfactants allow oil and water to mix, which helps soap to remove oil from your skin. However, many conventional soaps are using surfactants that are proven to be harsh on skin, especially dry skin. Healthy skin has a pH of about 5.4, while most soaps have a pH between 9 and 10.Our Original Face Scrub on the other hand, is the only product from our line that we don’t recommend using on a daily basis. We recommend using this two or three times per week to gently exfoliate the skin. If you haven’t shaved for a couple days, the pumice and coconut shell particles act as a perfect prep for an ideal shave too. It’s a fantastic product. Why is your brand called Bulldog? We picked the name because the Bulldog represents all of the positive attributes of men. Yes, he may not have a rippling six pack, in fact he’s a little overweight and quite wrinkly, but he’s also tenacious, loyal, honest, hard working and protective. We believe that our products contain all these qualities, which is why we sum the range up as man’s best friend. I believe that our customers identify more with the characteristics of the Bulldog than the unattainable images of ridiculously ripped male models or sports stars that most men’s brands use in their advertising. We are also massive dog lovers at Bulldog. Currently we have two dogs, Bruno and Huxley, in our London office. Rhodri also used to have a Bulldog called Spike when he was growing up. They are amazing creatures. What’s the biggest mistake you see men doing in their grooming routine?I think most men underestimate the importance of incorporating the highest quality products made with world-class ingredients into their regimes. As Bulldog demonstrates, this does not automatically translate into having to spend big on expensive products, as our line starts at just $9.99.Whenever men ask me how to start building their own grooming regime, my advice is always the same; try using our Original Moisturizer and our Original Face Wash. I’m convinced that in just a few weeks their skin will look and feel healthier. Most men who are yet to venture past soap and water don’t realize that soap dries their skin because of the issues with harsh chemicals and formulation that I’ve already mentioned. A much better idea would be to use our Original Face Wash, which you can buy nationwide in Whole Foods, Sprouts, Vitamin Cottage or online at meetthebulldog.comFollow up with our brilliant Original Moisturizer, which has become something of a hero in our range. I think it does so well because of its brilliant performance. We use eight essential oils to give the product our refreshingly masculine signature fragrance, as we cram in many powerful natural ingredients to deliver superb results.More about Bulldog Skincare here! Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has set up a team of experts to investigate the incident of wall collapse at Pimpripada in Malad, in which 26 people were killed. The team, which comprises experts from the IIT Bombay and Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI), has been asked to submit a report within 15 days, an official said on Thursday. A senior official of the BMC’s hydraulic engineering department will also be part of the team, which will submit its report to the civic chief, he said. Also Read – How a psychopath killer hid behind the mask of a devout laity! According to the official, a notice has been issued to the contractor, who had constructed the wall. “If it is found that the contractor had used sub- standard material for the construction or whosoever is responsible for its faulty design, then action will be taken against them as per the law,” he said. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had already ordered an inquiry into the incident, which took place in the wee hours of Tuesday. While the wall collapse claimed 26 lives, 72 people injured in the incident are undergoing treatment at different civic-run hospitals. Three of them are in critical condition, officials said. Also Read – Encounter under way in Pulwama, militant killed Meanwhile, people whose shanties were either washed away or flattened after to the wall collapse, have demanded that they should be rehabilitated. These shanties were built on the forest land and the residents have been living there for the last several years. Officials of the forest department held a meeting on Wednesday and decided to survey the localities affected by the wall collapse. During the meeting, the department decided to curb encroachments. Govardhan, whose shanty was not affected in the incident, said, “All of us have been waiting for rehabilitation since the last one year. We have been living here since a long time. We have no other option but to live here.”
VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Despite skyrocketing demand for ebooks and audiobooks, Canadian libraries say they’re struggling to meet reader demand because multinational publishers refuse to make their content available to them. The Vancouver Public Library (VPL) says in the ongoing digital rights management dispute, multinational publishers including Hachette Book Group, HarperCollins, Macmillan, Penguin Random House and Simon & Schuster, as well as Amazon’s Audible are selling single copies for steep prices or are outright preventing Canadian libraries from buying many of the best-selling e-titles. Strangely enough, this includes Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s memoir.“For the titles that we can get electronically, the price can be 300 per cent higher, or more, than buying the physical book,” said Kay Cahill, VPL director of collections and technology. “We see longer wait lists for popular titles, and we simply just can’t buy the number of copies that we would need to keep the wait lists down. And overall, if our budgets are being stretched by these high prices and restrictive licensing models, we just can’t build the same depth of content in digital that we can in print.”RELATED: Cost of ebooks, audiobooks ‘not a sustainable model,’ library council saysPart of the reason may be because publishers fear libraries lending out digital copies will cut into profits, Cahill says, but the reality may actually be the opposite. Those who use libraries are more likely to buy books and actually prefer buying over borrowing, according to a 2014 Pew Research study in the United States. Among 78 per cent of Americans 16 years and older who read a book in the previous year, 54 per cent of print readers and 61 per cent of ebook readers said they prefer to purchase their own copies rather than borrow them.In addition, people below the age of 64 — who are more likely to access digital content — were also more likely to have visited a library in the past year.“So in fact, making books available through the public library, including digital content, creates that stronger reading ecosystem for everybody,” Cahill said. She wants publishers to come to the table to create a model that allows libraries to provide content and ensures the publishers are getting the returns they want. Cahill is encouraging anyone who wants to see more digital content in libraries to contact the big publishing companies through the Canadian Urban Libraries Council’s new webpage dedicated to the issue.

CALGARY — The president of the Northern Gateway pipeline says the possibility of a 2018 start-up date is “quickly evaporating.”John Carruthers says the company planning to build the project, Enbridge Inc., is focused on getting support from First Nations groups along the pipeline’s route through British Columbia. He told a Calgary business audience that the process of “re-engagement” with First Nations will take time and he’s not too fussed about keeping to a schedule.Northern Gateway, which has been in the works for six years, received regulatory approval in June, but the company has said it’s not in a rush to put shovels in the ground. In addition to discussions with First Nations, Enbridge is also in the process of pinning down a new cost estimate and working through 209 conditions imposed with the regulatory approval. If built, Northern Gateway would ship 525,000 barrels per day of diluted oilsands crude from the Edmonton area to Kitimat, B.C., where the oil would be loaded onto tankers and shipped to Asia.

by Malcolm Morrison, The Canadian Press Posted Aug 21, 2013 8:31 am MDT Stocks fall, Fed minutes fail to provide clarity about winding up key stimulus TORONTO – The Toronto stock market finished sharply lower as minutes of the U.S. Federal Reserve’s latest meeting reinforced the view that the central bank will start winding up a key economic stimulus program sometime later this year. But there was some disappointment that the minutes didn’t provide much in the way of clarity about when the Fed may start winding up its US$85 billion of monthly bond purchases and what the pace of the tapering would be.Sliding mining stocks led the way to the S&P/TSX composite index closing down 97.03 points to 12,573.08.The Canadian dollar finished down 0.78 of a cent at 95.48 cents US as the greenback strengthened.New York’s Dow industrials dropped 105.44 points to 14,897.55, its first close below 15,000 since July 3. The Nasdaq was 13.8 points lower at 3,599.79 and the S&P 500 index slid 9.55 points to 1,642.8.The minutes showed that a few policy-makers wanted to assess more economic data before deciding when to scale back the central bank’s bond purchases. Others said it “might soon be time” to slow the purchases, which have helped keep long-term rates near record lows.“There is enough in it for everyone,” said John Stephenson, portfolio manager at First Asset Funds Inc.“The people who think the Fed will remain stimulative and dovish can say it’s pretty much in black and white, it’s not yet appropriate so stop panicking. And the more hawkish people can say well, it still shows they’re talking about taking it off because they’re broadly comfortable with the plan to reduce the bond buying.”There is nervousness surrounding the tapering of these purchases since the latest bond buying program, known as quantitative easing, has also fuelled a strong rally on the U.S. equity markets this year.“But I think that stimulus being withdrawn should have been factored into the market by now — it’s actually surprising,” added Stephenson. He also thinks much of the downward pressure on U.S. markets recently is due to the fact that indexes “have come pretty far and maybe it’s time to lighten up.” The Dow has lost a bit over five per cent since its record high Aug. 2.Many analysts believe the economy is strong enough to allow the Fed to start tapering its asset purchases as early as September.Strong housing data out Wednesday bolstered that point of view as the National Association of Realtors said that sales of existing U.S. houses ran ahead 6.5 per cent in July, much higher than the 0.4 per cent rise that economists had expected. That translated into sales at an annual rate of 5.39 million.Bond yields were higher after the release of the Fed minutes, with the benchmark 10-year U.S. Treasury up 0.06 of a point to a two-year high of 2.88 per cent. Yields started rising in late May after Fed chairman Ben Bernanke first mentioned the possibility of the Fed tapering its asset purchases and have surged about 120 basis points since then. The base metals sector led TSX declines, down 3.88 per cent and September copper slipped three cents to US$3.31 a pound. Teck Resources (TSX:TCK.B) lost $1.32 to C$26.25.Turquoise Hill Resources Ltd. is reported to be conditionally in favour of accepting a Chinese coal company’s offer for its majority stake in Inova Resources Ltd. Ltd. is offering 22 cents Aus per Inova share and Vancouver-based Turquoise Hill (TSX:TRQ) has agreed to tender it shares unless a better offer comes forward. Turquoise Hill dipped five cents to $5.24. Inova surged eight cents to 24 cents. The gold sector was down about 3.54 per cent while December gold bullion lost $2.50 to US$1,370.10 an ounce. Goldcorp Inc. (TSX:G) faded $1.31 to C$31.58.Higher bond yields pushed the interest rate sensitive utilities sector down one per cent and Just Energy Group (TSX:JE) shed nine cents to $6.23.The industrials group was also a weight, down 0.8 per cent as transport giant Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B) gave back 14 cents to $4.55.The energy sector was 0.3 per cent lower while the October crude contract on the New York Mercantile Exchange moved down $1.26 to US$103.85 a barrel. Canadian Oil Sands (TSX:COS) fell 59 cents to $20.10.Investors also considered earnings reports from the Canadian and U.S. retail sectors.Sears Canada (TSX:SCC) posted net income of $152.8 million or $1.50 per share, including an after-tax gain of $164.0 million. Ex-items, Sears lost 11 cents per share. Second-quarter revenue was down 9.6 per cent from the same time last year. Its shares slipped 22 cents to $12.05.Target Corp. reported a 13 per cent drop in second-quarter earnings as the discounter spent money on opening stores in Canada and dealt with cautious shoppers in the U.S. Target earned $611 million, or 95 cents per share. Ex-items, the retailer earned $1.19 per share. Revenue reached $17.12 billion, up two per cent. Analysts were expecting earnings of 96 cents per share on revenue of $17.28 billion, according to FactSet and its shares fell $2.45 to $65.50.Another big disappointment was Staples. Its stock plunged $2.57, or 15.29 per cent, to $14.26 after the office supplies chain reported earnings and sales that missed analysts’ expectations. The company also slashed its full-year profit forecast. AddThis Sharing ButtonsShare to TwitterTwitterShare to FacebookFacebookShare to RedditRedditShare to 電子郵件Email
Stay on target Toy Tuesday: The Best ‘South Park’ ToysThe New Lego UCS Imperial Star Destroyer Is Nearly Four Feet Long It was quite a year on a number of different levels, but one thing that’s inarguable is that toys rocked in 2018. We had companies in the US, Japan and around the world churning out insanely high-quality designs around all of our favorite franchises, and our wallets definitely took the hit for it. If you’ve still got a little holiday money burning a hole in your pocket, here’s Geek’s picks for the absolute best new action figures, LEGO sets, and more that dropped this past year.LEGO VoltronThe biggest LEGO mech ever, this insanely cool tribute to the beloved 1980s anime clocks in at 2,321 pieces of primary colored fun. The instructions let you build all five of the robotic lions that combine to form the sword-wielding Defender of the Universe, and the final figure stands over a foot high with multiple articulated joints and trademark weaponry. It’s an incredibly complex build – LEGO recommends it for ages 16 and up – but if you’re reading this and have a credit card you’re probably old enough to conquer the beast.Get it at Amazon.comNECA Shin Godzilla Atomic Blast Figure2016’s Shin Godzilla was a solid entry into Toho’s giant monster franchise, featuring an updated take on the beast’s origins. It became the highest-grossing live-action flick of the year in Japan and inspired a bunch of toys. Earlier in 2018, NECA dropped this incredible recreation of the scene where the big lizard uses his atomic rays from mouth and tail to decimate a fleet of U.S. bombers trying to take him out. Lay waste to your toy collection with this really cool figure that measures over a foot from snout to tail.Get it at Amazon.comFunko Deadpool Bob RossMarvel’s Merc with a Mouth had another truly great year, starting with the release of Deadpool 2 in May and proceeding through some great comics and action figures. One of the best bits actually came late in 2017 with the trailer for the sequel narrated by Deadpool in full PBS painter Bob Ross get-up, and soon after Funko latched on to the design and released the year’s funniest POP. Did you know that Bob Ross actually hated his trademark white-guy Afro but had to keep it for the show so people wouldn’t get confused?Get it at Amazon.comGood Smile Atlas & P-BodyJapan’s Good Smile company had a hell of a year, releasing their ultra-detailed Figma series across a wide range of games, movies, anime and more. Our favorite of the lot are the two figures from Valve’s classic puzzler Portal 2, the android test subjects Atlas and P-Body. In the game’s two player co-op mode, each player controls one of these charming little fellows, put together from scrap parts including a Companion Cube and a Personality Core. The figures are super poseable and come with portal guns and stands.Get it at Amazon.comPopeye One:12 FigureE.C. Segar’s salty sailor had a tough 2018, being re-invented in a series of bloodless YouTube cartoons that strip the hero of his trademark pipe and penchant for fisticuffs. But if you’re a true fan of one of the greatest American comic strips of all time, this incredibly detailed figure from Mezco will scratch that itch. Gleefully ugly, Popeye is ready to throw down with his foes and comes with a ton of accessories, including a duffle bag, a spyglass, a compass, two spinach cans, three different hats, and two styles of corncob pipes along with a removable wool pea coat.Get it at Amazon.comNECA Wonder Woman 1/4 Scale FigureSize isn’t everything, but it sure can make a difference. This NECA figure of Princess Diana, based on her hit movie appearance, is one of the most imposing toys on this list. Standing a whopping 18 inches tall, she towers over her foes and moves to strike them down with 30 individual points of articulation. Of course, the figure also comes with Wonder Woman’s trademark lasso, sword and shield so she doesn’t have to get her hands dirty. You can spend hours just marveling at the insane sculpt detail in her hair. That’s not weird to do or anything.Get it at Amazon.comTamashii Nations Pacific Rim Gipsy Danger FigureIt’s crazy to think that we got a new Pacific Rim movie this year in addition to the abundance of other riches we saw at the cinema. While Uprising didn’t quite have the heft and ambition of Guillermo del Toro’s original flick, it was still a ton of fun and brought a new audience into the giant robot franchise. Bandai’s Tamashii Nations “Soul Of Chogokin” series is a throwback to the die-cast metal robots of Japan’s past, and their fusing of that aesthetic to the Gipsy Danger Jaeger results in a hefty, solid toy that just looks incredibly cool.Get it at Amazon.comSquare Enix Play Arts Kai Vincent Valentine Figure We’re as hyped for the much-delayed Final Fantasy 7 remake as anybody on Earth, but sometimes it seems like Square Enix is just never gonna get the thing done. Until then, we’ll settle for the seriously badass figures the company’s toy department is kicking out. This year saw a really slick rendition of the game’s hidden vampire character Vincent as seen in his solo spin-off Dirge of Cerebus, complete with tattered cape and tons of articulation. Maybe 2019 will be the year we finally return to Midgar after all…Get it at Amazon.comNintendo LABOWe obviously left video games off this list but no chronicle of 2018’s toys would be complete without the LABO, with which Nintendo managed to innovate in a direction so weird we’re still processing it. Half origami, half science project, the LABO lets you fold cardboard structures that interface with the Switch’s sensors and controls to do all sorts of wild things, like create a playable piano or a fishing rod. It’s unique, bizarre and unlike anything else on the market. Just what we’ve come to expect from the big N.Get it at Amazon.comPickle Rick PlushRick & Morty has demonstrated a truly terrifying strength at pushing memes into the human brainosphere, and nothing demonstrated that quite like the near-instant proliferation of Pickle Rick after the Season 3 episode of the same name aired. As if by witchcraft, suddenly we were surrounded by versions of the cucumber-vinegar scientist in all number of forms. If you really feel the need to cuddle with this briny bastard, here’s an 18 inch plush one that you can creep out any visitor to your bedroom with.Get it at Amazon.comHot Toys Boba Fett Movie Masterpiece FigureHot Toys, the Hong Kong-based company that reliably turns out some of the best licensed figures on the market at 1/6 scale, had a hell of a 2018. It was nigh-impossible to pick just one of their offerings for the year, but our heart had to go with the super sweet Movie Masterpiece Boba Fett, one of the most detailed replicas of the bounty hunter’s original appearance in The Empire Strikes Back. For decades, Fett has been the must-have Star Wars toy, and this one is as cool as we’ve ever seen. Interchangeable helmet parts, hands weapons and more add to the coolness.Get it at Amazon.comMore on Geek.com:11 Goriest Resident Evil Toys11 Best Nintendo Toys11 Coolest Iron Man Toys
Stay on target It’s sort of overwhelming to think that, if South Park was a person, it would be old enough to go get a beer with. Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s cut-out animation was a massive sea change for comedy, using primitive tools and wild satire to push every comfort envelope that Americans lived within. Sure, the show has oscillated in quality pretty heavily from season to season, but the sheer endurance it displays is pretty ridiculous.Over the years, there have been plenty of South Park toys, and here are some of our favorites.Classroom Construction SetMcFarlane Toys’ construction sets don’t have the infinite flexibility of Legos, but they’re fun in and of themselves. They deliver a ton of little details in a small scale. This set boasts 260 pieces that assemble to form a replica of Mr. Garrison’s classroom complete with two rows of desks, figures of Kyle and Cartman as well as their puppet-toting teacher and a bunch of accessories. And they’re compatible with the wider range of construction sets, so you can throw the animatronics from Five Nights At Freddys or zombies from The Walking Dead in there for laughs.Get it at AmazonProfessor Chaos Vinyl FigureStanding 7 inches tall, this vinyl figure of Butters’ evil alter ego is ready to wreak havoc across your toy shelf. Professor Chaos made his debut after Kenny’s “permanent” death, when the other three boys briefly enlisted Butters as a replacement before kicking him to the curb for being too lame. Driven mad by the experience, he donned a tinfoil helmet and started committing petty crimes like stealing erasers. Eventually he upgrades to larger-scale environmental crimes but those don’t work out as well either. This charming sculpt from Kidrobot stands seven inches tall.Get it at AmazonMezco Terrance & Phillip FiguresOne of the most entertainingly bizarre running jokes in South Park history is the depiction of Canadians as even more primitive cutout animation figures than the rest of the cast. It originally started with TV characters Terrance and Phillip before expanding to the entire country, and if you love the two farting morons Mezco has created some terrifyingly three-dimensional takes on the duo. They come with stands, plug-in “fart blasts” that you can attach to their buttocks and spring-loaded heads. There’s something amazingly absurd in the attempt to translate something this simple to high-end action figure form.Get it at AmazonAwesom-O FigureCartman has pulled lots of dumb stunts, but one of the most absurd came in the eighth season episode where he thought pretending to be a robot could gain him access to Butters’ innermost secrets. As Awesom-O, the rotund child discovers that Butters also owns a videotape of Cartman doing a Britney Spears dance routine and must keep the disguise going to get it back, even as Hollywood producers tap his infinite memory banks of bad movie ideas. This high-quality figure from Mezco measures 6 inches tall and comes with alternate arms and a removable helmet revealing Cartman’s sweaty face underneath.Get it at AmazonChef Action FigureWhen Isaac Hayes left the show in 2006 after South Park poked fun at Scientology, a lot of people wondered if the show would survive the loss of one of its most beloved supporting characters. Obviously that wasn’t as big a deal in hindsight, but it was fascinating that a guy who was willing to appear in all sorts of filthy stories couldn’t roll with a gentle needling at his alien space religion. You can relive the glory days with this excellent action figure from Mezco, featuring a tray of chocolate salty balls for snacking.Get it at AmazonKyle PlushWe’re trying to represent all four lead characters in this list in one incarnation or other, so let’s give Kyle — probably the most emotionally stable of the South Park quartet — a plush version. Made by Kidrobot, this stuffed companion stands around 7 inches tall and is show-accurate, with earflaps for his hat and other nice details. Sure, maybe the show doesn’t have the snuggliest characters, but showing a little tenderness might be good for the kid.Get it at AmazonKenny Figure With RatsThe running gag of Kenny croaking in every episode was one of South Park‘s earliest hooks, as viewers tuned in to see how he was going to die week after week. Pretty quickly they added in an extra element to make things even more gruesome, most notably a horde of rats who would show up to gnaw the flesh off of his bones to really hammer the point home. This Mezco figure makes up for a lack of articulation (and what would you expect) with a quartet of rodents ready to chow down on their next meal.Get it at AmazonDeluxe Talking Mr. HankeySouth Park originally started as a Christmas-themed animation that Stone and Parker made with their own money, and the show has returned to the holiday season numerous times for inspiration. The ninth episode of the first season introduced a very unlikely mascot in Mr. Hankey, the Christmas Poo — a talking turd that only appears to Kyle, the Jewish kid. It’s such a bizarre and unpleasant concept that they continued to revisit — did you know he lives in the sewers the rest of the year? – and now you can have a soft stuffed version that delivers some of the animated feces’ most iconic lines.Get it at AmazonCartman Action FigureProbably the most iconic of all the South Park characters, Cartman is loved because he’s sheer id, motivated by his selfish desires without any regard for other humans holding him back. That’s why he ends up motivating some of the show’s most memorable episodes. This Mezco action figure captures his essence ably, throwing in a bonus anal probe from one of the first season’s famous stories as well as his food-mooching gray cat Mr. Kitty, always going after his Cheesy Poofs.Get it at AmazonFunko Pop StanThe big-eyed sculpt style of Funko Pops interacts very strangely with the minimal design of South Park — cutting out the large whites of the characters’ eyes leaves them looking like they’ve been possessed by otherworldly entities from beyond the dimensional barrier and are coming to strip your soul from your body. Which, knowing South Park, is very possible. Funko has Pops of pretty much the entire cast and a ton of supporting characters, but if you’re going to start somewhere you might as well start with Stan Marsh.Get it at AmazonPC Principal FigureOne of the most popular characters introduced in recent seasons of South Park, the PC Principal was introduced at the beginning of the 19th season and has served as a mouthpiece for the creators’ libertarian views on speech policing, for better or for worse. He definitely added a different moral angle to the plotlines from that season forward, and it’s doubtful he’ll go a way for a while so why not add him to your collection with this 3″ KidRobot vinyl figure? Maybe he can fistfight your GI Joes.Get it at AmazonMore on Geek.com:The Schwiftiest Rick & Morty ToysThe Best Stranger Things ToysThe Best My Hero Academia Toys The New Lego UCS Imperial Star Destroyer Is Nearly Four Feet LongToy Tuesday: The Best ‘Gears of War’ Toys
FBI agents along with State Troopers and Bethel Police conducted searches in at least three subdivisions in Bethel on Tuesday in connection with possible illegal alcohol sales.Download AudioWAANT Unit searches home in Bethel.(Photo by Dean Swope , KYUK – Bethel)Taxis formed a line, and one by one, open trunks and doors for inspection by authorities.Atone Avio works in the Trailer Court neighborhood in Bethel.“Troopers and FBI, they’re raiding all these Korean cab drivers,” Avio said.Quyana cab, owed by Jung Jun, employs many Korean drivers, and is the operator of all the cabs being searched here.Avio works right across the street from the highest concentration of law enforcement. He said he spent most of his morning watching the officers in action.“Just seen a couple of them now, but they’re at about five or six other trailers around here,” Avio said.In addition to the line of cabs, law enforcement made their way in and out of houses in both Trailer Court and on Sixth Ave. Many cab drivers live in both areas.Like many in Bethel, Avio heard rumors the company had been selling alcohol on the black market.“Couple people took a cab from the airport and they were saying that they were selling alcohol,” Avio said. “I think they possibly might be selling alcohol,” said Avio.A press release by the Alaska State Troopers stated the search warrants were being exercised as the result of a large-scale investigation that began in December 2015 into illegal alcohol sales by many Bethel businesses .Just moments after authorities left, in the same neighborhood, one of the owners of Quyana cab lies on a couch at her home rubbing her eyes. She says that she’s tired. One of the co-owners agreed to speak, but asked that her name not be used in this story.“We don’t do nothing wrong, what happened? Why they make us bad people? I don’t understand,” the owner said. She said that Tuesday morning she woke up to the sound of officers knocking on her door.“So I just open the door, and see a shotgun or something,” the owner said. “How many big guys come to me and [say] hands up? And then handcuffed me. And then they take me outside. And then I don’t know what happened, I don’t know what happened,”The owner said authorities did not tell her why she was being handcuffed. She said rumors that some of her drivers have made illegal sales are true, but she does not sell it herself.“I know that somebody do that but I don’t want to talk about that one. That’s not my business you know. If I don’t do, that’s ok, I don’t care,” the owner said. “I hate the Illegal people, that’s why I fire the cab driver. Just driving, just driving, no sell the alcohol. I always say that.”When asked to clarify if she had fired an employee for selling, the owner said,“yeah…I don’t exactly remember. That’s why when people order the booze I say no, don’t sell the booze, don’t sell the booze.”Police have not reported if or how many arrests have been made following the operation but the owner says that she knows of at least one.
