After being tied at halftime, the Devils faded in the second half and suffered their fourth loss.“After a slow start in the first half, we settled in and were able to execute our game plan to go in tied at the half,” said Coach Meade. “In the second half, Fairfield dominated the offensive glass and scored too many second chance point. I believe my guys are playing very hard and are doing their best to play up to their capabilities, we just need to do a better job of capitalizing on our opportunities.”The Devils’ offense got off to a slow start in the first quarter, scoring just 5 points on a trey by Ryan Shupert and a two-point basket by Ben Figgins, and they found themselves trailing 12-5 after the first seven minutes. As Coach Meade said, the second quarter was much kinder to his team as they used three-pointers from Jacob Call and Elijah Young plus two baskets by Colt Shumaker to battle back into a 19-19 halftime deadlock. The momentum that the Devils had built up going into the half faded quickly in the third quarter as the host Lions outscored their guests 17-8. North Adams got three-point goals from Call and Young again but struggled defensively and on the glass and were staring at a 36-27 deficit heading into the final period.Young hit his third trey of the game in the final quarter for the Devils but it wasn’t going to be enough as the Lions held their lead and claimed the 47-34 victory.Young was the only North Adams player to hit double figures in the loss, tallying 13 points, including his trio of three-point goals. Shumaker added 7 and Call 6 for the Devils. North Adams also struggled from the charity stripe, hitting just 2 of 8 free throw attempts, but they did hit 7 three-pointers on the night.Fairfield was led by 16 points from Tucker Ayres and 11 from Cody Gragg. The JV Devils will be back in action on Friday, Dec. 18 when they travel to Fayetteville and then will be part of the 2015 McDonald’s Classic next week.NAHS 5 14 8 7 —34FHS 12 7 17 11 —47NAHS (34): Call 2 0-0 6, Utterback 1 0-0 2, Shupert 1 1-2 4, Daulton 0 0-2 0, Figgins 1 0-0 2, Young 5 0-0 13, Shumaker 3 1-4 7, Team 13 2-8 34.FHS (47): Gragg 4 2-2 11, Case 1 0-2 2, Ayres 6 4-5 16, Willey 1 0-0 2, Setty 1 0-0 3, Beatty 3 2=5 8, Drabik 1 0-0 2, Bolendar 1 0-0 3, Team 18 8-14 47.Three-Point Goals:NAHS- Call 2, Utterback 1, Shupert 1, Young 3 PreviousDevils win third straightNextCombs excels on and off court Around the WebThis Video Will Soon Be Banned.
